Patriot Software’s CEO, Mike Kappel, was recently tapped to provide a steady stream of columns to Forbes.com’s Entrepreneurs section. Kappel, a serial entrepreneur with more than 30 years experience starting, running, and managing small businesses, will add Forbes contributor to the list and offer stories and the insights he’s learned as a business owner.
“I’m passionate about small business ownership. I know how hard it can be to get a business off the ground and keep it flying. All my companies focus on helping small business owners, and I’m thrilled to have an opportunity to share my experiences with the next generation of entrepreneurs through a venue as prominent as Forbes,” says Kappel.
Kappel’s first input as a Forbes contributor, titled Why Big Software Talent Is Coming Out Of Small Town Ohio details the unique challenges and obstacles of finding tech talent in small Midwestern towns, and how he’s overcoming them.
Kappel says, “You associate Canton, Ohio, with Timken Steel, or Diebold, or farming, or the Pro-Football Hall of Fame. Maybe Goodyear Tires, just a few miles north in Akron, Ohio. But software? No, you don’t think of software. I intend to change that.”
So far Kappel is doing just that. His company, Patriot Software, recently won G2Crowd’s 2015 award for Highest Satisfaction in Payroll.
Kappel will be contributing twice a month for Forbes, detailing his personal experiences as an entrepreneur, the future challenges he believes entrepreneurs will face, and his tips for overcoming those challenges.
Kappel’s company, Patriot Software, LLC, is a subsidiary of the Patriot Software Company located in Canton, Ohio. Patriot is a Software as a Service company that provides online accounting and payroll solutions for small business owners in all 50 states. For more information, visit Patriot Software, LLC, or,
